Well, that explains me. I’m much more than just a pretty face ;-p.
According to a new study, taller people tend to have a higher IQ than shorter people. The correlation isn’t as high as my amateur graph shows, but it’s there.

The Black Marble
I love everything and anything spacey. Even this guy, and the Earth seen from space. Here’s a composite of many photographs of Earth taken at night during several months showing urban sprawl across the globe.
Dude, I can totally see my house from here.

The Hubble eXtreme Deep Field (by NASA)
Hubblesite.org:

Astronomers have assembled a new, improved portrait of mankind’s deepest-ever view of the universe. Called the eXtreme Deep Field, or XDF, the photo was assembled by combining 10 years of NASA Hubble Space Telescope photographs taken of a patch of sky at the center of the original Hubble Ultra Deep Field. The XDF contains about 5,500 galaxies even within its smaller field of view.

When you look at this image, what do you see? It looks familiar. It kinda looks like the Mojave Desert in Nevada and California. But it’s no where near it. This is surface of Mars, a photograph taken by the Curiosity Rover just a few days ago.
I find it fascinating because even though it looks like Earth, it’s actually quite alien. Here on Earth, even the most seemingly inhospitable environments are in infested with life. Heck, even our own bodies carry more bacterial cells than human ones. But not here, this place is lifeless. Curiosity is completely alone. I’m gonna call him Wall-e.

Dino Love

Bow chicka bow wow!

A recent article on dailymail.co.uk illustrates mating habits of several dinosaur species. They would have to surmount -no pun intended.. well, OK maybe a little- several obstacles to mate successfully. But, if I know my own gender, they found a way. Below is my favorite image.

What if?

The folks behind xkcd.com started a new blog called “What If?” which answers people’s hypothetical questions once a week. One of the first two posts asks what would happen if one tries to hit a baseball pitched at 90% the speed of light. The post explains the whole thing in great detail and is very entertaining. Suffice it to say the end result is not pretty. It ends with a giant mushroom cloud over the space where the game WAS being played. That’s one heck of a fastball!
