On Our Affinity For Dogs
I got to thinking the other day as to why I (and many others) love dogs so much. The simplest explanation is that they tend to have beautiful personalities. While there are many other valid reasons, this one stands out to me the most.
Think about it. People can be very hard to deal with, even the ones closest to you. In my experience, the more you get to know your friends, the more strained your relationship with them becomes. Most friendships last for a few years, then they’re gone. Our personalities clash.
One friend who you will likely never have this problem with is your dog. It will always be happy to see you. It’ll never be in a bad mood or lie to you. It will never betray you or get tired of you. As long as you satisfy their needs, which aren’t many, they’ll be by your side to the end.
A dog’s mind is kind of like a child: always cheerful. And like a child, it’s hard not to fall in love with our dogs. They’re the perfect pet. They have a few pretty disgusting habits and tastes, but that’s whole different story. Be good to your dog.
